Morning Classes

Fairytale Ballet Camp for ages 3-6 • $99

Fairytale Ballet Camp is a delightful camp that gently introduces little girls to the wonderful world of dance through movement, literature and imagination. The instructor combines the basic skills of ballet with props, books, singing and fun. Dancers will also participate in enrichment activities such as themed games, arts and crafts, and special princess tea parties with snacks. On the last day of camp, there will be a magical princess presentation where dancers will demonstrate what they have learned with a short-in house performance for family. Girls dress in their favorite princess attire and ballet shoes.

Rising Stars Dance Camp is a dynamic camp that fuses together the upbeat style of jazz dance with the funky flair of hip hop. Students will learn a variety of dance and performance techniques, participate in team building activities, as well as learn upbeat dance choreography to their favorite hits. Dancers will also participate in a variety of enrichment activities such as games, improv, and arts & crafts. On the last day of camp, there will be a short in-house demonstration. Campers should bring a healthy snack and water bottle to class.

The 2017 BMD Dance Intensive features an energetic and exciting curriculum full of strength and flexibility, core building & technical training. Our talented staff will work with your child to give you the best dance experience of summer. In a snapshot, what does our intensive feature? Over 6 hours of dance instruction per day designed to motivate and challenge dancers in Ballet, Modern, Jazz, Lyrical, Hip Hop, and Musical Theatre. Dancers will also learn upbeat choreography that they will show off on the last day of camp.

Evening Classes

Twinkle Toes Ballet

for ages 3-5 yrs

Twinkle Toes Ballet gently introduces little girls to the wonderful world of dance through movement, music and imagination. The instructor combines the basic skills of ballet dance with props and musical instruments to create a fun learning environment children to thrive.

8 Classes • $120 per person
Mondays • 5:15- 6:00pm starting June 12th

Attire: Light pink leotard with attached skirt,light pink dance tights, and pink ballet shoes (not satin slippers). Hair should be back in a neat bun.

Little Stars Ballet & Tap Combo

for ages 5-6 yrs

Little Stars dance classes introduce children to ballet and tap, focusing on developing fundamental motor skills, spatial awareness, imagination and expression through movement. Children also learn about music and rhythm through creative exercises with props and musical instruments. Emphasis is placed on fun and the development of positive self-esteem as their child enters one of his or her earliest classroom situations.

8 Classes • $120 per person
Mondays • 6-7pm starting June 12th

Attire: Light pink leotard with attached skirt,light pink dance tights, pink ballet shoes (not satin slippers), and black patent leather Mary-Jane style shoes (snap or Velcro closure). Hair should be back in a neat bun.

Jr. Hip Hop

for ages 4-6 yrs

Jr. Hip Hop classes introduce boys and girls to hip hop and pop through cool, upbeat dance patterns and steps. Children will gain rhythm and coordination while learning hip hop techniques such as popping and locking and even some break dancing. Emphasis is placed on having fun while children develop early dance skills, helping them to increase positive self-esteem.

Thursdays • 5:15-6:00pm starting June 15th

Attire: Girls wear a fitted tee, black jazz pant / leggings, and white sneakers. Boys wear a fitted tee, athletic pant, and white sneakers. Hair should be pulled away from face in a ponytail or braid.

Dance Combo: Ballet & Jazz

This dynamic combo class is designed to have young dancers learn both the graces of Ballet and the exciting, upbeat style of Jazz. Students are taught technique & terminology, and will develop flexibility, strength, self-confidence, and coordination through leaps, turns, and kicks. At the end of each class, dancers work on fun choreography to show off their skills.

Pink ballet shoes and/ or tan jazz boots.

Ballet

Classical ballet is the foundation of all dance styles. It is considered essential to the training of any dancer, no matter the age. With its graceful and precise movements, ballet focuses on building strength, control and flexibility. It also improves coordination, builds proper posture, poise, grace and confidence. As ballet increases a student’s ability and performance in all other forms of dance, it is strongly recommended that students, no matter what dance discipline they choose, should take ballet.

8 Classes • $120 per person

Thursdays • 8-9pm starting June 15th (Beginner)

‘Dancing With the Stars”

This program is designed for young boys and girls who wish to experience the excitement and glamour of Ballroom and Latin dancing. In class, students will learn dance and performance techniques, social etiquette, rhythm and timing, as well as basic to advanced variations in the Foxtrot, Waltz, Tango, Swing, Cha-Cha, Rumba, Salsa, and other dances. This is a must-do class for kids who love Dancing With the Stars.

8 Classes • $120 per person

Ages: 14 and up

Mondays • 7-8pm starting June 12th

Wednesdays • 8-9pm starting June 14th

Attire: Girls wear a blouse with knee-length skirt or dress. Boys wear a white collared shirt and black dress pants. Smooth-soled dress shoes or ballroom dance shoes (1-inch heel only).

Break Dance for Boys

Breakers is a fun and energetic hip hop / break dance class designed just for boys. Classes introduce students to basic footwork, freezes, and styles of break dancing, and allows students to develop their own dance combinations.

Youth/Teen Hip Hop

Jazz

Jazz dance combines techniques of classical ballet and modern dance with the current forms of popular dance. It also has its own movement vocabulary ranging from the isolation of certain body parts to the movement of the entire body with the accents of musical rhythms. Jazz dance can take on many different characteristics and styles, including Street Jazz, Percussive, Broadway, Contemporary and Lyrical. Emphasis is placed on the importance of energy, rhythmical accuracy, and style. Each level of jazz is a continuation of the previous level and increases in difficulty.

Lyrical

Lyrical is a freer moving, expressive dance style that blends the controlled movements of ballet with the freedom, power, and dynamics of jazz. In class, students will learn lyrical dance technique, floor combinations, and creative dance routines that are designed to increase student flexibility and coordination, enhance rhythmic sensativity, and heighten body awareness.

Attire: Black leotard, jazz dance shorts, tan convertible dance tights, and DancePaws or FootUndeez.

Pointe

Classical ballet is the foundation of all dance styles. It is considered essential to the training of any dancer, no matter the age. With its graceful and precise movements, ballet focuses on building strength, control and flexibility. It also improves coordination, builds proper posture, poise, grace and confidence. As ballet increases a student’s ability and performance in all other forms of dance, it is strongly recommended that students, no matter what dance discipline they choose, should take ballet.

This is for the technically strong dancer who has advanced to a level in ballet where her body can accept the physical demands for pointe work. Placement into Pointe class is determined by a student’s instructor and the school director. Decisions are made based upon a student’s strength and ability level in ballet. It is required that dancers take at least two classes of ballet a week to be considered for Pointe.

Attire: Black leotard, chiffon skirt, light pink dance tights, and pink ballet shoes. Hair should be back in a bun.

Ribbon Dance

Graceful and beautiful, ribbon dance uses flowing, rhythmic movements along with colorful ribbons to create sharp choreography to a variety of music. In class, students will learn ballet technique to increase flexibility and coordination, as well as fun ribbon dance choreography.

8 Classes • $120 per person (Fall registration)

Attire: Black leotard, light pink dance tights, dance shorts, and pink ballet shoes. Hair should be back in a bun.

Youth/Teen Broadway Tap

The rhythm and movement of tap, created by the metal taps on the heels and toes of a dancer’s shoes, transforms the dancer into a percussive musician. Tap dance emphasizes the flow of movement by teaching the dancer to find rhythms and beats not only in music but in their own bodies.
